2 min read

The very first International Business Connections Summit (IBCS) a meeting where different business owners, investors and business coaches from the USA visited Kenya for 3 days. The purpose was to upskill Kenyans SMEs in different sectors to gain knowledge on the different ways they can improve their businesses. The theme of the Summit was to connect SMEs in USA and Kenya by creating collaborations and also ways in which they can invest in each. The business set up in the United States is improved more than what we have here. The economy in US is dynamic and stable. Growing small businesses would be fast and the government regulations support the growth of these companies. Most start-ups require critical attention in the early stages in terms of trainings and support as they work towards growing. Dr. Ruben West an International speaker (link to his bio: https://www.civilityforkenya.org/aboutwest.html ) played a key role in mobilizing the delegates from USA.

The 2 days Summit had business individuals flocked at the Kenyatta University Business School Convention Centre from the 14th to 15th of July. Organized and planned by Global Partners and Purpose with Tour Operators Society of Kenya, Kenyatta University and other partners the Summit was a success and impactful to the attendees. Tour Operators Society of Kenya members benefitted from getting a first priority to register and attend the summit. The tourism business coach from the USA guided the attendees on the round table networking session. Tourism industry has recovered and the main take-away from the summit were growing your operations to be international. The attendees learnt the tourism business model in the USA and how to incorporate Kenyan SMEs to be outstanding and attract more investors.

Les Brown -  a world renown world’s Strategic SME Trainer connected with the attendees virtually and took them through the self-actualization and business management. (link to his profile)

After the two days, we had a theme dinner #WakandaGalaNight – an African cultural night. The night began leisurely and once everyone was settled, we had few speeches from the organizers. It is during this time that various individuals were awarded for their exemplary work in community and business developments. We are proud of our very own Kamal Shah (link to his bio), director of Kampur Diaries for the honorary award. Kamal runs sustainable tourism projects in the Northern part of Kenya. With his team, he has provided books to children at Ngurunit to ensure that the beautiful children get an opportunity to go to school, supported conservation by providing seedballs to front liners of conservation to plant for a greener North, among other great activities.

The International Business Connection Summit was a great success on impacting businesses and individuals. The second edition of the convention will be held in November 2022. This is a great opportunity for everyone who missed to sign up early for purposes of business coaching and business growth.
It was an honor as TOSK to work towards equipping our members with the right connections for the growth of their businesses.

Till next time, Adios!
