Kapedo Hot Springs is a remarkable destination that captures the essence of Kenya’s natural beauty and geothermal wonders. Recently visited by members of the Tour Operators Society of Kenya (TOSK), Kapedo Hot Springs is a testament to the geothermal activity that characterizes this region. The springs are located in a picturesque setting, surrounded by rugged terrain and striking landscapes. The water, heated by underground volcanic activity, bubbles up to the surface, creating a serene and surreal environment.

The waters of Kapedo Hot Springs form a scenic waterfall where visitors can enjoy a natural spa experience, soaking in the rejuvenating waters while taking in the stunning surroundings.

 

Lomechan Caves, a series of three interconnected caves, features massive chambers, underground rivers, and unique rock formations. Lomechan caves possess a lava tube of considerable length. A dark outflow shape with a rounded passage.

 

The Kamrio Escarpment offers some of the most spectacular views in Kenya. Visitors can enjoy panoramic vistas of the Rift Valley, lush forests and distant mountains. The escarpment's vantage points are perfect for photography and enjoying sunrise and sunset.

 

Silale Crater is part of the volcanic system of the Great Rift Valley, which is renowned for its dramatic landscapes formed by tectonic and volcanic activity over millions of years. The crater's unique structure and location contribute to its distinct ecological and geological characteristics.

With a summit elevation of 1578m (5013 ft) above sea level, Silale Crater is a natural wonder with immense potential as a tourist destination in Kenya. It is a scenic place for a sundowner.

 

Cultural Aspect

TOSK members took part in community dances with the Chemsick Dancers. And also learnt the unique cultural event of the Pokot people known as Sapana - a three day event that takes place once in a year as a rite of passage for the boys to Manhood. Engaging local communities in tourism activities is crucial for sustainable development.
